School Tours to Begin at Emerson!
In preparation for prospective families who will be enrolling their students for the 2013 – 2014 school year, Emerson elementary school tours will take place on the following dates from 10:00am – 10:45am:

Reading Night at Emerson**FREE Popcorn and Bookmark
Grab your pillow and even a favorite stuffed animal and join us on Thursday, November 29th from 6:00-7:30pm for Reading Night!
Come listen to our teachers read and learn tips that will help parents assist their children become better readers. Families will also be have the opportunity to choose a couple books from our library to read to their children before going home to bed.

Soccer In School @ Emerson! Oct 22nd-26th
The Soccer in Schools program goal is to offer students the opportunity to learn about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through the enjoyment of playing soccer!
In a PE classroom setting that facilitates interaction, the In-Class Program pairs soccer education with topics such as fitness, nutrition, and social awareness for a rounded educational experience. In meeting the basic fitness and health Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs), the In Class program engages students in discussions on health around an easily relatable and fun topic: soccer!

EMERSON BOOK FAIR
"Every Reader is a Star"Please come to our Emerson book fair beginning Monday, October 1st through Friday, October 5th . Students will be able to buy wonderful books during their classroom's scheduled time daily 9:30am- 3:00pm. It is located in the hallway outside Room B206.

Welcome From Our Principal
Dear Families and Students,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! I am excited to return to Emerson to serve as your principal! I look forward to continuing the strong work we began last year to ensure that Emerson students are receiving the best education possible!
We have many new staff and exciting partnerships joining our Emerson Family this year! Southwest Airlines has committed to continuing as a business partner, in addition, we are thrilled to welcome City Year Seattle Corps Members to our staff as well!
Emerson provides a very diverse learning community. Our staff continues to reach for the success of all learners as they become knowledgeable, responsible and caring citizens with a continuing desire to learn. Our Staff is excited to greet your student and begin a wonderful year. Student classroom assignment lists will be posted outside of the school beginning at 9am on Tuesday, September 4th, 2012.
We invite you all to attend our "Meet and Greet Ice Cream Social"! This event will take place from 2:30-3:30 on the playcourt behind our building on Tuesday, September 4th. This is an opportunity to meet the various staff that will be working with your students this year as well as connect with each other as a community! We look forward to seeing you soon!
