Dear Emerson Families,

Thank you for your continued support throughout this transition.

We’re excited to welcome our scholars tomorrow, Oct. 29, to Original Van Asselt (7201 Beacon Ave. South, Seattle, WA 98108 – corner of Myrtle and Beacon Ave.). Please note that tomorrow is an early release day, with school hours from 7:55 a.m. to 1:10 p.m.

Transportation & Shuttle Details

  • Transportation department will send a general message with route times to families that are routed on 781, 782, and 783 (check your email).
  • Special education families will receive direct communication from district staff regarding route times.
  • Students who are not assigned transportation (family drop off or walk to school), a shuttle bus will be available at Emerson Elementary:
  • Pick-up: 7:29 a.m. at Emerson’s bus loading zone (60th Street, in front of Emerson Elementary)
  • Drop-off: 1:31 p.m. (Wednesday) at the same location
  • Please be prompt for pick-up, as the Emerson main office will not be staffed.

If your student will not take district transportation and you plan to pick up from Original Van Asselt, please email us at emersonmainoffice@seattleschools.org to update your student pick-up plan.

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

To ensure smooth traffic flow:

  • Big buses will use the bus loading zone on Beacon Ave.
  • Special education buses and car services will use the roundabout south of the main entrance.
  • Family drop-off is on Beacon Ave. in the designated median area labeled “Family Drop-Off.”
  • Families must briefly park and walk students across Beacon Ave. using the crosswalk.
  • Crossing guards will be stationed at key locations.
  • These procedures will also apply at dismissal.

All students and visitors will enter through the main office, where staff will be ready to guide them. If your student arrives late, please walk them into the main office and check them in.
